Art Camp campers tap into their creativity and make an array of projects based on three levels of camp! Art Camp explores themes such as Mythical Arts, Sculpture and Clay, Printmaking and Fabric works, and mural creation...just to name a few! Our experienced and enthusiastic staff instruct students in a variety of art techniques. See below for more details about each week.

Art Camps

Apprentice Artist Class (1st-3rd Grade)

The Apprentice Artist Class is geared toward younger artist who are just beginning to develop their skills and love for art. The course is broken up into a morning and afternoon sessions to maximize the time it takes to both develop skill in specific mediums, and have the opportunity to try a plethora of others. The morning sessions offer fun and experimentation, with activities centered around a weekly theme, while the afternoon sessions offer the time to hone traditional skills at studios Summer Programs has offered for years. Maximum Enrollment: 15

Week 3: The Art of Heroes/The Art of Craft

If you want to be a Super Hero, first you need to make the uniform! Create all kinds of hero related artwork in both 2D and 3D media. In the second half of this camp you will learn that if you can imagine it, you can make it! Crafting is an undervalued but highly effective and fun way to create art, both useful and beautiful.

Week 4: Mythical Arts/Drawing and Painting Studio

Fairies and Dragons and Wizards, oh my! Whether its dragon eggs, wizard wands, or a creature of a far-off land, play around with materials and make fantasy reality. Come explore the mediums that are the backbone of art! In the second half of this camp you will learn that 2D media is vast, but in this class you’ll be able to explore multiple mediums and work from observation.

Week 5: You Can't Spell Earth Without Art/Introducing Digital Art

The world is big, the world is beautiful, and the world is full of art! Join us in using nature as our medium, as well as recycled objects, to create amazing works of art. In the second half of this camp, you will discover that it's a New century, with new media! Digital art is as vast as traditional art but this course will introduce it with fun and informative projects.

Week 6: Space for Art/Sculpture and Clay Studio

To infinity and beyond! Come explore a variety of media in an effort to create art that will take you to the stars. Come play with mud in a much more refined way! In the second half of this camp learn how to build not only with clay but also other 3D materials.

Professional Artist Class (4th-6th Grade)

The Professional Artists Class is for the young artist with a few years of experience under their belt but a hunger for new and more challenging projects. The course is broken up into morning and afternoon sessions to offer variety in projects but also repetition and practice in skills. The morning sessions involve exciting new courses and lessons surrounding where art can take you in the future, while the afternoon sessions offer the ability to hone traditional skills at studios Summer Programs has offered for years.Maximum Enrollment: 15

Week 3: The Art of Craft/Drawing and Painting Studio

If you can imagine it, you can make it! Crafting is an undervalued but highly effective and fun way to create art, both useful and beautiful. The second half of this camp will explore the mediums that are the backbone of art! 2D media is vast but in this class you’ll be able to explore multiple mediums and work from observation.

Week 4: Book, Box, Portfolio/Mosaic and Collage Works

Why write a book when you can make one? Learn how to use paper as a form of structure and gain a new appreciation for the printed word. The second half of this camp will be able to create some art piece by piece! Using both 2D and 3D mediums, learn how to create art out of scraps of anything you might have laying around.

Week 5: Printmaking and Fabric Works/Graphic Design and Digital Arts

Wearable art is shareable art! Learn how to paint and work with fabrics to create art without ever having to pick up a needle. If you like it then you should have put a label on it! The second half of this camp will look more closely at digital art and its uses in real world application.

Week 6: Sculpture and Stop Motion Studio/Illustration: The Art of Telling a Story

Now stop! Sculpture time. Learn how to build characters and stories using clay and other 3D mediums. A picture is worth a thousand words! In the second half of this camp you will learn how to let your art tell a story while using 2D mediums to creates works of art that speak for themselves.

Masters Class (Grades 5th-9th Grade)

The Masters Class is for the dedicated and ambitious young artist. Two completely new programs make up this class where cooperation, creativity, and imagination are put to the test. The morning session follows the journey of mural making, from collaborative idea, to painting, to installing and celebration. The afternoon session offers creative freedom in which the class can pick three projects of their own preference and get one-on-one instruction to help them through the process.

Clay Sculpture and Pottery

Love to build and sculpt? Then sign up, while there is still space, for the clay sculpture and pottery course!In this two-week adventure, students will explore the intricacies of hand-built clay structures.They will also practice making functional bowls and cups on the potter’s wheel. The focus of the second week is glazing and finishing the clay work.*Please note that each session is required as a two-week course.* Maximum Enrollment: 12

Digital Phototgraphy

Learn the basics of taking photographs using a digital camera. Daily photo safaris emphasize techniques that improve composition and image quality. In the computer lab, Adobe Photoshop Elements™, a powerful but easy-to-use software, will be used to open up the world of creative editing for use on the web or in print. Advanced students are welcome too! Campers will expand their creative horizons as they further enhance images with filters, special effects and styles. Go from taking pictures to making images! Learn how to enhance pictures using the same tools that the pros use! *Note that camp cameras can be provided, but bringing a personal camera is recommended. Maximum Enrollment: 12
