Team Red Wins 2017 Lower School Field Day

Lower School Field Day is one of Germantown Academy's longest and most cherished traditions. The annual event, which is typically the Friday before Memorial Day weekend, puts our Lower School students in the spotlight as they are cheered on by Middle School and Upper School students as they march out to Carey Stadium and compete in a variety of fun competitions before their parents and grandparents. At the front of this year's parade were team captains Abby D. '24 and Luke P. '24 (Team Red) and Claire D. '24 and Eric C. '24 (Team Blue). Overall, this year's Field Day was a blast for all Lower School students, faculty, and families alike.

"Field Day 2017 was a great day of competition, collaboration, and fun for all!" said Head of Lower School Sue Szczepkowski. "We appreciate all of the planning and efforts of our physical education departments across all three divisions, the GA maintenance team, the Office of Institutional Advancement, volunteers, Lower School faculty, and our Middle and Upper School students in making it a great day for Lower School students and families. The highlight for me was seeing the color captains congratulate one another after the announcement of the red team's victory. Honorable in Deed!"

In the classic match-up of Team Red vs Team Blue, students participated in a number of fun games all over Carey Stadium and the surrounding athletic fields. Both teams had fantastic showings, but in the end, Team Red persevered for the second consecutive year to win, 247-231.
