Fifteen Germantown Academy Upper School science research students competed at the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Sciences (PJAS) Region 1B science fair at Souderton High School in February. Of those 15 students, nine earned first place awards, qualifying for the 82nd annual PJAS State Competition, which will take place on May 14-16 at Penn State University.
"These students began their projects in September by brainstorming topics, creating project ideas from those topics, evaluating each project idea for whether it could be performed in school under time and monetary restrictions, choosing one of those project ideas to write a detailed research outline, planning the procedure, carrying out the procedure, collecting and analyzing data, creating a PowerPoint presentation, and practicing that presentation with me," said Director of Science Research Sarah Kesten. "Please congratulate all of these students, as they worked hard to design their projects, collect data, prepare a PowerPoint presentation, and spend their holiday weekend competing in a science fair."
Next up for GA's science researchers is the Montgomery County Science Research Competition, which will take place at Ursinus College on March 7-8.
