On Wednesday, March 8, 2017, 28 Upper School Science Research students competed at the 2017 Montgomery County Science Research Competition (MCSRC), directed by GA Upper School science teacher Phil Rittenhouse, at Ursinus College. Of those 28 students, 18 students earned first, second, or third place awards, qualifying for the Delaware Valley Science Fair (DVSF) on April 4-5. In addition to these category awards, 10 students received one or more special awards sponsored by science and engineering companies as well as professional organizations, earning over $700 in cash and prizes.
Moreover, the GA Upper School students did so well that they earned GA the First Place Division A Award (most total points for 12th grade projects) and Second Place for both Division B and Division D (second most total points for 11th and 9th grade projects, respectively).
"Please congratulate all of these students, as they worked hard to collect data and prepare a poster board presentation and research paper since January," said Director of Science Research Sarah Kesten
