Ninth Grade Retreat Kicks Off Upper School Journey

The 9th Grade Retreat is always one of the most memorable days of the year, and this fall was no exception. The Class of 2029, along with their Prefects, senior leaders, advisors, and House Heads, spent the day together at Camp Kweebec in Schwenksville.

“This is a great opportunity for the Class of 2029 to meet for the first time as an entire class, with a day free from distractions to spend bonding with each other in a variety of ways,” said Dean of Students Steve Moll.

Students began the morning with team-building exercises before diving into a wide range of outdoor activities including basketball, hockey, lake adventures, and the zip line. Faculty joined in the fun, with one of the highlights being a spontaneous students vs. teachers hockey game.

In the afternoon, each student decorated a puzzle piece, a long-standing tradition that, once assembled, will hang alongside past classes’ creations. The day wrapped up with House Meetings, where every student received a House hoodie to wear proudly throughout the year.

After years of running this trip, we remain amazed by the way one day together can set such a positive and welcoming tone for the 9th Grade as they begin their Upper School journey.
