Mykal-Michele Longino '18 Models Ralph Lauren's Latest Collection

Germantown Academy community members and fashionistas everywhere should keep their eyes peeled for Ralph Lauren’s latest collection.

The fashion company extended its partnership with Morehouse College and Spelman College, unveiling a limited-edition collection inspired by the rich heritage and esteemed traditions of the school. Conceptualized and designed by Morehouse and Spelman alumni at Ralph Lauren, the collection marks the first time the brand has produced a campaign with an all-Black cast including its photographer, creative directors, cinematographer and talent — predominantly comprising students, faculty and alumni at both institutions.

Included in that group is Germantown Academy alum and Spelman College senior Mykal-Michele Longino ’18, who represented the institution and modeled the new collection. Longino also starred in “A Portrait of the American Dream,” an accompanying film that aired on select Ralph Lauren social channels that allows consumers to experience the story of the collection beyond the product. In addition to the film, there will also be a commemorative yearbook detailing the founding and historical significance of HBCUs through the lens of Morehouse and Spelman, demonstrating the use of style as an expression of aspiration, a form of self-empowerment and a tool of resistance. Both feature archival imagery from each college compared against collection imagery on the campuses’ iconic landscapes, with commentary from the presidents of both colleges and several faculty, alumni, and student cast members present throughout the campaign.

The yearbook will be available digitally alongside the film on March 29, 2022, on The collection will be available globally on March 29, 2022, on, and other merchant sites.
