Matt Dolan Steps Down from Basketball Post

Germantown Academy Director of Athletics Tim Ginter has announced that Matt Dolan, Head Coach of Boys Basketball since 2019, is stepping down for other opportunities.

“Coach Dolan has spent the last six years leading with dedication and commitment to student-athlete development,” said Ginter. “He has positively impacted many of our student-athletes, instilling values of teamwork, perseverance, and sportsmanship. We thank him for the last six years, and we wish him all the best in the future.”

Dolan began his coaching career at GA in 2011 when he spent the season as the freshman team coach and assistant coach of the varsity team under 30-year Head Coach Jim Fenerty 1760. He was hired as GA’s head coach in 2019 and went 64-74 overall and 20-38 in the Inter-Ac Athletic League in six seasons on the hardwood. Under Dolan, six players will or have gone on to play on the collegiate level and GA won the 2024 Commonwealth Cup Championship. At GA, Dolan served as an assistant athletic director, coached different levels of cross country, soccer, and baseball, and taught several sections of history and physical education in Middle and Upper School.

Germantown Academy will begin the process of hiring a new boys varsity basketball coach who will oversee the full 6th through 12th grade boys basketball program immediately.
