On November 12, 2020, the Lower School held Compassionate in Spirit Day –– a day to celebrate GA and all things red, black, and blue in honor of a very different GA/PC Week - no all-school pep rally, no full day of sports against PC, no Belfry show, etc. Students also learned about compassion and the power of kindness through a Compassionate in Spirit Day “Emergency”! Head of Lower School Sue Szczepkowski asked students and faculty to honor the GA Class of 2021 by mailing letters to them. But everyone had to work fast––the letters were to be mailed out by the next morning!
Each homeroom received a list or two with the names of GA seniors. Students drew pictures, typed letters, and wrote thoughtful notes to each member of the senior class - 133 in all!
And wouldn’t you know it, the entire Lower School Collaborated in Action and handled the “emergency” in less than 24 hours. Each student and faculty member filled every envelope with love and compassion. The seniors, including those pictured here - Talie Jordan, Max Lasdon, Sydney Hill, Stefan Lyntton, and Jordan Longino - were thrilled when they opened their mail. Great job Lower School!
