On Wednesday, June 9, 2021, Germantown Academy celebrated the Class of 2028 (fifth grade) at the Lower School Final Assembly, which was held on Connor Quad (SEE PHOTOS)
During the program, Head of School Rich Schellhas 1760 presented the annual Kershaw Medals to fifth grade students. The Kershaw Medal is named after former Head of School William "Pappy" Kershaw (1877-1915), one of the most important administrators in GA history. The award for honor, scholarship, deportment, and general character was bestowed upon Sean H. '28 and Eliza Y. '28. On Tuesday, during the virtual Lower School Final Assembly, the 4th Grade Kershaw Medals were awarded to Damian C. '29 and Anvi J. '29.
Matthew D. '28 and Zoe B.' 28 won the Elma Coonrad Trupin Award, which is presented to a fifth grade student for exemplifying encouraging, and promoting good human relations.
Eliza Y. '28 and Yared H. '29 were each the recipients of a Math Olympiad trophy.
During Wednesday's ceremony, the audience heard remarks from Head of Lower School Sue Szczepkowski, Assistant Head of School Allison Sasson, Head of Middle School Jonas Jeswald, fifth grade teachers Lauren Vanin, Ellen McMichael, and Graham Martin, and Lower School Art Department Coordinator Jess Killo.
The audience also heard from Abe G. '28, Imani L. '28, Elisia B. '28, Caiden H. '28, and Simran K-B. '28, who each spoke about their journey through GA's Lower School.
Congratulations to the Class of 2028 as they head across Connor Quad to Middle School next fall!
