Upper School English teacher Kara McPhillips had an article published recently by Edutopia, an online initiative of the George Lucas Educational Foundation. Her article, titled "Using Class Discussions as AI-Proof Assessments," points out how she uses classroom dialogue to ensure students are doing their own work at Germantown Academy.
“When I think about AI and the ways it will transform classrooms, I sometimes feel overwhelmed," said McPhillips. "But when I think about discussions, which are such a strength here at GA, I realize there are lots of strategies I already use in my classroom, to see what my students know, that are AI compatible. Publishing some of my favorite discussion protocols seemed like a good way to open a window into what’s working for my students.”
