Germantown Academy Hosts Over 150 College Representatives

FORT WASHINGTON -- This fall, Germantown Academy hosted representatives from more than 150 colleges and universities from across the U.S. and around the world. These visits gave students a chance to hear directly from the people who shape admissions decisions, offering valuable insights into a wide variety of schools.

“The fact that so many colleges and universities visited GA this fall speaks volumes about the school’s strong national and international reputation,” said Senior Associate Director of College Counseling Dan Evans. “Colleges have limited time to spend in each region, so we’re thrilled that so many chose to visit GA.”

Typically, the admission officer visiting GA is the same person who reviews applications from GA students. During their visits, many admissions officers also meet with GA’s college counselors to exchange updates and learn what sets GA apart, such as the House System, the use of Harkness Tables, distinctive curricular offerings, and the new Health & Wellness Center.

GA students are also exploring a wider range of college options than ever before. Schools that received no applications from GA students 15 years ago now see 10 to 15 annually. “Our students are adventurous,” Evans said. “They’re very willing to branch out and consider new options.”

These visits are a key part of GA’s mission to prepare students for the next step in their educational journey. Whether students are just starting their college search or finalizing their applications, these one-on-one interactions offer inspiration and practical advice. They also strengthen GA’s partnerships with some of the leading colleges and universities.

Germantown Academy extends its heartfelt thanks to the colleges and universities that visited this fall for their time, insights, and dedication to our students’ futures.
