The GA Field House, originally built in 1987, received an interior facelift over the summer! The ceiling, walls, and steel structure have been freshly painted, modern acoustic panels have been installed, a Mondo Advance NG floor is in place of the old rubber floor, and a new curtain is hanging at mid-court with electric controls for the curtain and the new basketball backboards.

"After serving GA well for decades, our Field House earned a complete interior renovation this summer," Head of School Rich Schellhas 1760 said. "With the installation of state-of-the-art flooring, a tremendous floor to ceiling paint job, and the replacement and modernization of the netting apparatuses now complete, our ‘renovated and improved’ Field House is ready to welcome our 1,220 students in PE classes and an array of sports every season."

"I can’t even begin to explain how excited we are with this Field House 'face lift'," Director of Athletics Tim Ginter said. "This space has served its purpose for over 30 years, but it was time for this space to be viewed in the same light as the Big Gym, Annex, or the soon-to-be completed Health and Wellness center. The design is perfect and will truly benefit the Middle School and Upper School students. Maybe most importantly, this will become a space that people are excited to use."

In addition, a modern and accessible entrance is being built to connect and integrate the Field House within the new Health and Wellness Center. At 21,000 square feet, the air-conditioned Field House, is GA’s largest indoor athletic and event space, which will come in handy if a future graduation requires a rain plan.

"We are confident that the updated interior will present a more festive alternative to Connor Quad (if needed) than in years past," Schellhas said. "With the new Health & Wellness building on the horizon, the Field House will be a perfect match for the adjoining 25,000 square feet that await us next fall!"
