Germantown Academy Alumni Spotlight: Cori Rosen '12

Germantown Academy graduate Cori Rosen '12 has achieved remarkable success in her career in communications, having gained experience at prominent companies such as HBO & Max, Business Insider, and TikTok.

Following her time at Germantown Academy, Rosen attended Syracuse University and graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications with a Bachelor of Science degree in Television, Radio, and film. After college, she worked at HBO & Max (Warner Bros Discovery) from 2016-2022 on the Digital Communications team. She then worked at Business Insider on the Marketing team before taking on a role at TikTok on the Entertainment Partnerships team.

Rosen's current position at TikTok has provided invaluable experiences. She has collaborated with the talented teams behind high-profile events and productions such as the Oscars, Grammys, Top Gun: Maverick, Mission: Impossible, Barbie, Don’t Worry Darling, House of the Dragon, The Last of Us, and others. With an early interest in Photoshop, HTML, and pop culture, Rosen's passion for the internet and social media culture has grown exponentially during her tenure at TikTok. She most enjoys the sense of community and shared enthusiasm for the platform itself within the company.

Most recently, Rosen’s team partnered with Paramount Pictures to kick off Black History Month through an advance screening of Bob Marley: One Love for Black TikTok creators in Atlanta and Los Angeles. Rosen's role at TikTok allows her to engage with some of the most creative and innovative people in entertainment today. She enjoys learning about new trends and creators that are rising on the platform and helping to amplify underrepresented voices.

TikTok's unique format centered around short-form, creative video content aligns perfectly with Rosen's interests and skill set. She finds joy in fostering meaningful partnerships between TikTok and entertainment companies and helping to bring exciting new content and experiences to the platform's users. Working at the intersection of media, marketing, and technology, Rosen's role gives her a first look at the future of entertainment and media consumption. She sees TikTok as an incubator of creativity and self-expression, and she enjoys being a part of empowering and elevating creators through the platform.

While reflecting on her time at GA, Rosen credits Germantown Academy for playing a pivotal role in shaping her journey and preparing her for the challenges she would face in the real world. She says Germantown Academy taught her how to be a strong writer and communicator, which she believes has given her an advantage throughout her career. Rosen states “Whether it was writing a strong introduction email when applying for a job, drafting a press release, or presenting a partnership proposal, Germantown Academy laid the foundation for effective communication skills.”
