Hola! Bonjour! Ni hao!Germantown Academy is pleased to be hosting an Organic World Language Visitation Day on Wednesday, October 24, and teachers of any language at any level from any school are invited to attend. Classes will be in Mandarin, however, debriefs will be in English.
Bertina Hsu-Miller, PreK-12 Mandarin-Chinese Program Coordinator at GA, is excited to lead this program and showcase her students in action. During the OWL Visitation Day, participants will spend time in student-centered, proficiency-based classes observing strategies and techniques for a variety of levels. Movement, pairings and groupings, speaking and literacy are cohesively brought together in one class period. A Student Panel also provides context from the students' side.
Bertina is also leading an OWL 1 Foundations Workshop on November 2-3 at Chelten – a church of hope, in Dresher, PA. Participants will learn how to create a kinesthetic, student- centered, proficiency-based classroom. The workshop explores how understanding National Standards and proficiency-based instruction strategies can create an interactive, student-centered classroom.
If you have questions about either of these events, please contact Bertina Hsu-Miller via email.
