GA Students Win Five Gold Medals at County Competition

Germantown Academy Middle and Upper School students shined at the 2017 Montgomery County Oral Proficiency Contest on February 28 at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. Winners included:

CHINESE

  • Michael R. '21, Gold Medalist, Level 01
  • Daelyn N. '21, Silver Medalist, Level 1
  • Sasha Capers '20, Gold Medalist, Level 2

FRENCH

  • Priya Padhye '19, Gold Medalist, Level 3

SPANISH

  • Kevin C. '21, Gold Medalist, Level 01
  • Vinit Joshi '19, Gold Medalist, Level 3

“Our students competed in an in-house oral proficiency competition at all levels in Chinese, French, and Spanish,” said Upper School Modern Language Co-Chair Linda Test. “The winners from each language and level (01, 1, 2, 3, and Advanced) then participated in the county-wide competition where our students expressed themselves extremely well and earned five gold medals and one silver medal. Congratulations to all of our in-house and MCATFL winners! It was great to see our students communicating with each other, native speakers, teachers, and friends from other schools in the target language and having fun!”
