GA Seventh Grader Named a Lions International Peace Poster Contest Merit Winner

Germantown Academy seventh grader Jianna K. '25 is one of 23 young artists selected from more than 600,000 participants worldwide as a merit winner in the Lions International Peace Poster Contest. Lions Clubs International sponsors the annual program to give young people the opportunity to express their vision of peace.

“Peace is a complicated journey with a happy ending,” said Jianna, whose poster was selected for its originality, artistic merit and portrayal of the contest theme, “Journey of Peace.” As a merit winner, Jianna will also receive a cash prize.

The posters were judged at club, district, and multiple district levels before reaching the international level, at which point they had been narrowed down to 114 posters. Based on creativity, originality and portrayal of the theme, Jianna's poster was chosen as one of the 23 merit award winners. The award winners are from Canada, China, Germany, Guam, India, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, New Zealand, Romania, United States (California, Maine, Pennsylvania, and Virginia), and Wales.

South Philadelphia Lions Club President Barbara Ricci said she was impressed by the expression and creativity of the all the students at Multiple District 14 Pennsylvania who submitted artwork. “It’s obvious that these young people have strong ideas about what peace means to them. Their talent and their vision of the world is truly inspiring.”

In addition, Jianna’s art was published on the Pennsylvania Lions Pride Magazine. It was also posted in a South Korean Lions Club newspaper.
