GA Names Jodi Robinson Director of College Counseling

Germantown Academy Head of School Rich Schellhas 1760 announced the hiring of Jodi Robinson as the school’s next Director of College Counseling. After a long-tenured career in admissions at the University of Pennsylvania, Robinson has been working at The Hill School for the past three years as Co-Director of College Counseling.

“Jodi Robinson’s expertise in both sides of the college transition – from serving as a senior-level admissions officer at one of the most competitive colleges in the world to serving as a college counseling director at another highly competitive independent school – renders her incredibly qualified to take on the role as Germantown Academy’s next Director of College Counseling,” said Schellhas. “Many of us at GA have known Jodi for years, and her professional reputation and personal strengths are exceptional. I am supremely confident that Jodi will manage this vital work for the Academy with intelligence, thoughtfulness, and care, and I am also truly excited to get to work side-by-side with one of the very best in her field.”

At Hill, Robinson collaborates with a team of seven counselors to provide student-centered college counseling using data-driven strategies to create, edit, and review letters of recommendation and college lists to best serve each student. She serves on the Head’s Advisory Team as an academic advisor, academic council member, dorm affiliate, weekend duty member, and a term co-curricular lead. Robinson shares her breadth of highly selective admissions knowledge and builds relationships with college admissions offices, while also coordinating college counseling events on campus.

“I am thrilled to join the College Counseling team and leadership at GA,” said Robinson. “I look forward to continuing the legacy of dynamic student-centered work and innovative programming. Thank you for this exceptional opportunity. I am honored!”

Robinson spent more than a decade at the University of Pennsylvania as the Senior Associate Director of Admissions. She was a Selection Committee Chair, Territory Manager, Macro Team Leader, Staff Enrichment and Development Leader, Athletics Liaison, Faculty/Staff Liaison, and Staff Supervisor. Robinson developed and implemented a three-year recruitment strategy plan while participating on the Recruitment Project Planning and Strategy Team, led and trained the athletics pre-read and likely review process, and adhered to Ivy League regulations, guidelines, and reporting.

Prior to Penn, Robinson spent several years in admission at schools in the Northeast, including Miss Porter’s School, Wesleyan University, Carnegie Mellon, and Kingswood-Oxford School. She is a member of the PA Association of College Admission Counselors (PACAC), International Association of College Admission Counselors (IACAC), and National Association of College Admission Counselors (NACAC). Robinson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Psychology and a Master of Arts in Organizational Behavior at Bucknell University, where she also volunteered as an alumni interviewer and sat on the Alumni Board of Directors.
