On Tuesday, February 25, 2020, thirteen Germantown Academy students, chosen by the Upper School Modern Language Department to represent GA, participated in the Montgomery County Oral Proficiency Contest, sponsored by the Montgomery County Association of Teachers of Foreign Languages at Plymouth-Whitemarsh High School. These included: Danika Staples '24 (Level 1 Chinese), Jordan Boymel '23 (Level 2 Chinese), Christian Combs '22 (Level 3 Chinese), Daelyn Nwaobasi '21 (Advanced Chinese), Charlotte Baughman '25 (Level 01 French), Adah Kaplan '24 (Level 1 French), Melinda Amorosi '23 (Level 2 French), Marius Vava '20 (Advanced French), Utsav Mittal '25 (Level 01 Spanish), Olivia Krey '24 (Level 1 Spanish), Anish Sriram ’23 (Level 2 Spanish), Patrick Tronoski '22 (Level 3 Spanish), and Matthew Sandifer '20 (Advanced Spanish).
After a round of individual interviews in the target language with the judges, two finalists were chosen in each language at each level. These finalists were then again interviewed before an audience of teachers, parents, and students. GA is proud to announce that the following students were finalists in this challenging competition.
