On Monday, June 4, 2018, 19 members of the Class of 2018 were inducted into the Germantown Academy chapter of the Science National Honor Society in a special ceremony in the Beard Center for Innovation.
The newest inductees are Anjalee Bhuyan '18, Ryan Booth, '18, Tyler Dolan '18 (President), Miles Hanamirian '18, Anna Hennessy '18, Caroline Kessell '18 (Vice President), Max Korman '18, David Li '18, Andrew Luo '18, Andrew Miao '18, Andrew Piszek '18, Fisher Rhodes '18, Drew Sandifer '18, Hannah Santos '18, Juliana Sarisky '18, Shreya Shah '18 (Secretary), Rachael Villari '18, Isaac Wilkins '18, and Nathan Wong '18.
To be inducted into the Science National Honor Society, candidates must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, and have maintained a B+ or better across all honors level and AP science courses. Students are also expected to enroll in an honors level or AP science level course in both their junior and senior years at GA. During their senior year, candidates are required to participate in two or more service opportunities that embrace the concept of sharing knowledge and interest in science with the broader community. Acceptable service options include: Judging the Eighth Grade Science Research Fair, tutoring in the Science Center once a rotation, working with PreK and Kindergarten students as a member of Kids Teaching Kids (KTK) for the year, volunteering as a Green Ambassador, assisting in Lower school science classes, or another science-centered volunteer opportunity that is approved by the chapter advisor.
