GA Inducts 17 Seniors into the National Mathematics Honor Society

Germantown Academy is proud to recognize 17 seniors who were inducted in the GA chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, the national mathematics honor society, during a special luncheon on Friday,  April 26, 2019. The honorees include: Jason Chee, Scott Cho '19, Ethan Cody '19, Daryl Dohner '19, Priya Dudhat '19, Andrew Feng '19, David Ghalili '19, Satyam Ghodasara '19, Alexander Gu '19, Kevin Hou '19, Kevin Lamb '19, Eric Nawrocki '19, Priya Padhye '19, Zoe Torrey '19, Derek Walkush '19, Kristine Wang '19, and Yi-Di Wang '19.

“Members of the GA Class of 2019, you are being presented for initiation into Mu Alpha Theta, the National High School and Two-Year College Mathematics Honor Society,” said Mathematics Department Chair Jason Straub 1760. “It is an honor to be selected for membership in this organization, which has over 2,100 chapters across the United States and in many foreign countries. Each of you meets the requirements for membership, including work done with distinction in Germantown Academy’s mathematics program. The principal purpose of Mu Alpha Theta is to stimulate a deeper interest in mathematics, and so it is with proud recognition of your skill, creativity, and interest that we formally welcome you to Mu Alpha Theta.”

To be eligible for Mu Alpha Theta, students must be seniors, must meet grade requirements for their honors level mathematics courses as well as an overall GPA requirement, and may not have earned any honors strikes within 12 months of induction.
