GA Honor Musicians Participate in PMEA District 11 Band
Students from the Honors Academy Symphonic Band - Andrei Vava '24, Jianna Kim '25, Arthur Hu '26, Ethan Page '24, Dominic Perazza '25, and Umang Mittal '25 just completed their District 11 Band Festival at Bensalem High School.
The students had a three-day immersive musical experience, working with and sharing the stage with 124 other student musicians from 35 schools in Montgomery and Bucks Counties. They explored a varied and challenging repertoire, all under the leadership of Dr. Quintus F. Wright, Director of Bands at the University of South Carolina. All involved worked so hard, lived our Mission, and were outstanding representatives of GA's Performing Arts Department!
At this festival students also re-auditioned for the chance to advance to the PMEA Region VI Band. Special shout outs and congratulations to Arthur Hu (placed 3rd for Alto Saxophone), Jianna Kim (placed 1st for Flute), Dominic Perazza (placed 1st for Mallet Percussion), and Andrei Vava (placed 1st for Tenor Saxophone) for advancing to the PMEA Region VI Band festival! They make it look easy, but it should be noted that this is the most student musicians that have made it to the Region Band Level from GA and the most first place re-auditions we have seen from GA musicians! Their diligent preparation for the festival and re-audition process was clearly on display!
These students will perform at the Region VI Band Festival on February 22-24 at Downingtown West High School. Rebecca Rong '26, accepted to the District Orchestra, will rehearse and perform at Lower Merion High School from February 8-9.
