Eleven Seniors Named National Merit Commended Students

Germantown Academy Interim Head of Upper School Michael Torrey announced that 11 members of the Class of 2020 were named Commended Students in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. The 11 GA National Merit Commended Students are Colby Brundin '20, Katy Cheng '20, Isabelle Goldstein '20, Kenneth Gong '20, Jash Kakadia '20, Sabreen Mohammed '20, Lauren Paynton '20, Matthew Sender '20, Alexander Tang '20, Kerway Tsai '20, and Marius Vava '20.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2020 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, these Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2020 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
