The Old Guard, Germantown Academy's alumni group that includes those who have graduated 50 years ago and more, welcomed the Class of 1973 at the annual dinner during GA/PC Weekend. As part of their 50th Reunion Celebration Weekend, nearly two dozen members of the Class of 1973 were officially "inducted" into the Old Guard among 75 other members in attendance. It was a meaningful celebration of their graduation from Germantown Academy 50 years ago as classmates reminisced about their time in Fort Washington. One of the highlights of the event was the donation of a cumulative  gift from the Class of 1973 of more than $130,000 to start a new Financial Aid fund at GA. While many reunion classes get together to make a gift to the school, the Class of 1973 was the first in the school's history to initiate a newly funded GA endowment and will be included as part of the Our Moment Campaign.
