FORT WASHINGTON -- Kyle Garland '18 earned a trip to the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) World U20 Decathlon Championship in Finland by winning the same event at the 2018 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships. While he did not take home first at the World Championships, Garland did put on a show.
The recent GA graduate finished seventh in the world at the event with a total of 7,451 points. He missed out on sixth by just three points, and fifth place by only four.
His best performance came in the 110 Hurdles when he finished third with a time of 13.99. Garland had one other top-five finish, a 6' 6" showing in the high jump. Garland was the lone representative from the United States in the event.
