Germantown Academy welcomed author and educator Matthew Landis to speak with the Middle School on Wednesday, September 28, in the Honickman Auditorium. Landis has published a series of works, one of which was this year's Middle School summer reading book titled, "It's the End of the World as I Know It." Today’s interactive presentation gave students and faculty a firsthand glimpse of the author's intent behind the book.
Following the main event, students and faculty gathered in the Roberts Family Library where they had the opportunity to get their copy of the book signed by the author. Students then spoke with Landis regarding any questions or comments surrounding the publication.
Later in the day, students participated in a collaborative writing workshop where they worked with their peers and teachers to refine and elevate their writing skills and strategy. By the end of the day, students had a chance to reflect on their learnings and apply this newfound knowledge in a creative academic setting.
