Alumni Update: Dan Hoy '12 Signs with Mets

NEW YORK CITY--On March 8, Germantown Academy graduate Dan Hoy '12 signed a minor league contract with the New York Mets.

At GA, Hoy starred on the Patriots' baseball team. He was a four-year letterwinner, a three-year starter, and a three-time Inter-Ac League selection, including a pair of first team nods. As a senior, he was the 2012 Pennsylvania State Gatorade Player of the Year runner-up and earned All-City First Team, All-Area First Team, All-State First Team, All-Southeastern PA First Team, and All-Region honors. As a sophomore, he helped guide GA to a 29-2 record and the state championship. He was also a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter on the soccer team.

Hoy went on to play at Princeton University where he was named a co-captain in 2016 and led the Tigers to their first Inter-Ac League title since 2011. (SEE PRINCETON PROFILE)

Hoy joins former teammate Sean Coyle '10 (Baltimore Orioles) and Chris Harvey '12 (Tampa Bay Rays) in the minors. Tommy Coyle '09, who starred at the University of North Carolina, was part of the Tampa Bay's Double-A organization, Montgomery Biscuits, last season.

Hoy's sister, Jen '09, is also a professional athlete. She's currently on loan with the Newcastle Jets in Australia.
