Playing sports at GA has been an incredible experience filled with competitive, high-stakes games and intense but fun practices. Even though I also play club softball, nothing compares to representing my school on the field.
Sports have always been a big part of my life—I’ve played softball since I was three. Athletics give me a much-needed break from studying and homework, but more importantly, the lessons and skills I’ve learned on the field have shaped me as a student and will continue to benefit me in college. For example, running track taught me the value of motivation and perseverance. I started track late, during my junior year, and pushing myself through intense workouts showed me that I’m capable of far more than I ever imagined. That mindset translates to my academics, leadership roles, and responsibilities as a travel player, giving me the confidence to take on challenges and manage my commitments.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is learning to take a step back. Balancing multiple roles and a demanding training schedule left me exhausted, but I realized that in order to perform my best and support my team, I need to prioritize my health. Getting enough sleep and eating right have become just as important as my training.
Softball season is a grind—hot, long, and exhausting—but the joy of celebrating a hard-fought league win with my teammates makes it all worth it. Every day I get to play the sport I love is a blessing. I’m incredibly grateful for my coaches and teammates at GA and wouldn’t trade this experience for anything.
