What an exciting time for the GA Belfry Club – the oldest high school theater club in the nation! Not only did they perform four sold-out shows of Newsies in March 2022, they also received 13 nominations by “The Philadelphia Independence Awards for High School Musical Theater!” GA competed against 18 area high school theater productions and came out on top with three awards – two for senior Will Cooper ’22 for Lead Actor and Male Vocalist and one for Morgen Zighelboim ’23 and Brianna Geist ’24 for Creative Leadership (choreography). The awards ceremony took place at Temple University on May 23, 2022 and was hosted by Broadway’s Jenny Lee Stern and 6abc’s Rick Williams. Madison Quinter ’24 and Cam Moore ’23 performed in the opening number and Cooper performed his nominated song, Santa Fe. Congrats to all!
