FORT WASHINGTON — Germantown Academy Director of Athletics Tim Ginter has announced the hiring of DeLane Doyle as the new Head Coach for Varsity Coed Ice Hockey.
“We are excited for DeLane to be the next head coach of the ice hockey team,” Ginter said. “As an assistant coach the last few years, he has played an important role in the program’s success. As a teacher-coach, he has been able to make meaningful connections with the players, both on and off the ice. We look forward to watching DeLane put his stamp on this program and lead them to continued success.”
Doyle has been a member of the Germantown Academy community since 2019 and helped the Patriots win two Independence Hockey League (IHL) championships. He has also assisted with the junior varsity baseball team since 2021 and 3rd team soccer in 2022. Outside of GA, Doyle previously served as the assistant coach for Casper Baseball Club, assisting with travel and overnight trips, in addition to planning practices and in-game management for the U14 and U17 teams.
“I’m excited to take something that has been really good and continue to grow it,” Doyle said. “I know many players well from being an assistant coach, and many I also know from the classroom, so I’m excited. Matt Rominger set up an amazing program and I’m excited to take that and keep it going.”
Outside of coaching, Doyle is a percussion instructor, the Assistant Director of Bands, teaches Middle School general music, and directs the Middle and Lower School jazz bands at GA. He is also involved in Middle School Ski Club, Upper School SCUBA, Rock & Ropes Club, and school musicals.
GA’s new coach will inherit a team that went 9-4-1 overall and 7-2-1 in IHL play during the 2022-23 season. The Patriots return 13 letterwinners and four seniors, including Second Team All-League performers Daniel Alexander '25, Colin Rink '24, Richie Podulka '24, and Dominic Perazza '25.
