The first point of the 2023 GA/PC rivalry was won three days before the actual day's events as the GA golf team bested Penn Charter, 6.5-1.5. Despite the early lead, the Patriots were unable to win back the coveted Competition Cup, falling to PC on GA/PC Day, 6-4.
In the pool, the Patriots split matches, with the girls falling, 14-6, and the boys earning a tight win, 12-9. Co-Captain Nick O'Hara '24 was named MVP for the boys.
After dropping a contest to Penn Charter during the season, the Patriots earned a thrilling come-from-behind win against the Quakers in overtime. Hadley Harbert '24 tied the game late in the fourth quarter, and Olivia Krey '24 scored in the extra frame to give GA the victory.
The GA cross country teams also split on the day, with the boys going down 19-37 and the girls winning 24-31. Nieve Keitel '27, Annabelle Steckel '28, and Abby Durkin '24 finished 2-3-4 for GA, while Sanya Bandekar '25 and Allison Eichsteadt '25 took 7-8 to give the Patriots a win.
A back-and-forth battle kept both sides entertained, but the GA girls soccer team fell to the Quakers, 3-2. The boys side played tough, but a penalty kick given to Penn Charter with 30 seconds left in regulation sealed the Patriots' fate. Ryan Szczepkowski '24 was named the GA MVP for the contest.
The GA tennis team fell to PC on the day, 0-7.
The latest edition of the longest prep school football rivalry was won by PC, 35-14. Xavier Stearn '26 and Mick McKee '26 connected over the middle to open the scoring, but the Quakers scored 28 unanswered points to pull away. AJ Towsen '25 caught a touchdown with five minutes to play before PC added a score late to ice things.
