Boys Basketball: Bryce Rollerson '25 Becomes 27th Germantown Academy Boys Basketball Player to Score 1,000 Points

FORT WASHINGTON -- For the first time since 2019, a Germantown Academy boys basketball player has scored 1,000 points.

On Friday night in the closing minutes of action against Inter-Ac League foe Episcopal Academy, Germantown Academy guard Bryce Rollerson ‘25 recorded his 1,000th career point on a free throw with the Patriots battling back against the Churchmen. Rollerson came into the game needing 30 points to hit the 1K mark, and tallied 11 in the first half. As GA tried to fend off EA, the junior started to heat up. He finished the game, a 76-73 loss, with exactly 30 points, 16 of which came in the third quarter. He is now the 27th player in program history to surpass 1,000 points.

“It’s an amazing feeling,” Rollerson said. “My dad and I put in a lot of work and a lot of time, so it’s a big accomplishment. We didn’t get the win tonight, but I’m still proud. So much thanks goes to my dad.”

Rollerson is the first Patriot to reach 1,000 career points since Jordan Longino ‘21 did so back in 2019, when he scored 28 points against St. Albans School for Boys.

Rollerson recorded 182 points during his first season with the Patriots in 2021-22 on a senior-heavy team. He said that he was just trying to earn respect of the older players and find his role on the team. Rollerson added that he still remembers things that he learned from that group -- Jake Hsu ’22, Blake Smith ’22, Casey Traina ’22, and Luke Marvin ’22 -- during the season.

As a sophomore, Rollerson evolved more into a scorer, tallying 549 points and earning Second Team All-League honors. Through 14 games this season, Rollerson has recorded 291 points.

He will have a chance to add to his total when the Patriots travel to The Haverford School on Jan. 17 for another league contest. Germantown Academy went 1-1 against the Fords a season ago.
