Baseball: Patriots Finish Historic Season as PAISAA Runner-Up

MALVERN -- Germantown Academy’s baseball team entered Wednesday’s Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association (PAISAA) Championship game with an opportunity to make history. Facing Malvern Prep on May 27, the Patriots aimed to capture their first PAISAA title since 2010 while also preventing the Friars from securing a fourth consecutive championship.

The championship matchup remained scoreless through five innings as both teams delivered strong performances on the mound and in the field. Malvern Prep broke through in the bottom of the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly followed by an RBI double down the right-field line to take a 2-0 lead.

Despite a hard-fought effort, the Patriots were unable to generate late offense as Malvern Prep held on for the victory.

Sean McGettigan '26 started on the mound for Germantown Academy and turned in a strong performance, allowing just three hits and two runs over six innings while striking out three batters. Defensively, the Patriots played a clean game without committing an error. Nate Knapp '28 led the team defensively with seven putouts.

Germantown Academy concludes the season with an impressive 22-10 record (6-4 Inter-Ac), marking the program’s first 20-win season since 2010.
