FORT WASHINGTON -- Four Hamilton College athletes traveled to the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course in Terre Haute, Ind., for the 2024 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Nov. 23. Among them was former Germantown Academy boys cross country captain, Alex Badami '22.
The only member of Hamilton's men's cross country team to make the race this year, Badami took 257th overall, finishing with a time of 26:19.00 -- 2:17.4 behind the first place finisher.
This was Badami's first time competing at the event. He qualified by placing 13th out of 167 finishers in the NCAA Niagara Regional with an 8-kilometer time of 25:29.4 at the Fredonia State University Cross Country Course on Nov. 16. Badami's fastest 8-kilometer time of 25:04.1 was recorded in the 2024 NESCAC championships where he finished 13th and earned a spot on the all-conference team. He finished in the top 15 in six of seven meets this fall.
