Although the winter sports are finished, it is time to recognize the student-athletes who performed at a high level during the season.
Unlike normal wrestling tournaments or a dual-meets which are housed in gyms, Prep Nationals is held within a large arena. The bright lights are turned on and fans fill the stands, either rooting for or against the athletes on the mat. That type of attention could get into the head of anyone in the competition, but not Brandon Seidman '18.
Prior to their trip to Prep Nationals at Lehigh University, Germantown Academy's Head Wrestling Coach Solomon Fleckman said that he just hoped that his team improved on their 40th place finish from last year. The Patriots did just that, finishing 12th with 54.5 points. Behind that strong finish were the individual performances of Christopher Kim '20, Brandon Seidman '18 and Patrick Salmon '18.
Before the season even began, Germantown Academy Head Wrestling Coach Solomon Fleckman said that the team was looking forward to getting back to Prep Nationals. Now that there is only one week remaining in February, that time has come.
Before the season even started, Germantown Academy Head Coach Solomon Fleckman said that the most important match for the team would come at Prep Nationals. With the season winding down, it is almost time to see how the Patriots perform at that meet. First, however, they had to compete at the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Westling Tournament.
