NEW YORK, NY -- Germantown Academy's winter track & field teams traveled to New York to compete in the 2023 Hispanic Games. There was no team scoring for this event. 

Boys Track & Field

• Vance Thorpe '23 ran the Unseeded Boys 55m Dash Final in 6.73, edging out Xavier Maple of Reservoir High School by .01 seconds to earn the top spot in the event. 
• Evan Badami '26 ran the Unseeded Boys 400m Dash Final in 52.80, securing a fifth-place finish. He was the only freshman to finish in the top 34 runners. Badami also cleared 5-04.00 in the Boys High Jump.
• Blake Brown '24 recorded a 19-10.50 leap in the Boys Long Jump Final to take home ninth place. Brown also placed 13th in the Boys Triple Jump, going 39-06.50.
• Gavin Fountain '24 finished third in the Boys Shot Put with a 46-10.00 throw.

Girls Track & Field

• Layla Gentile '25 placed 11th in the Girls Shot Put with a 30-09.25 throw.  She was the sophomore to finish in the top 20. 
• Ava Fiumara '26 ran the Unseeded Girls 55m Dash Final in 8.15, taking 15th overall. Sophia Legos '26 finished in 9.28.
• Carolyn Connolly '23 took 18th in the Girls 1500m Run with a time of 5:32.23. She also ran the Varsity Girls One Mile, finishing with a time of 5:52.22.
