Winter Track: Germantown Academy Competes at Bears High School Invitational

COLLEGEVILLE -- Germantown Academy's winter track & field teams traveled to Ursinus College and competed against over 60 schools on Jan. 20. There was no team scoring for the meet. 

Vance Thorpe '23 set the tone in the Boys 55m Dash, placing eighth with a time of 6.75. In the 55m Hurdles, Jet Dickerson '26 continues to drop his time, running a season-best of 8.80.

Carolyn Connolly '23 finished eighth in the Girls 3000, with a season-best time of 11:46.

Both 4×400 teams finished the meet with exciting races. Kayla Sweeney '24, Aja McBride '23, Gabby Colucci '24 and Emma Shapiro '26 ran a season-best of 4:55. The boys team of J-Jay Ordillas '23, Vance Thorpe '23, Luke Philip '24 and Evan Badami '26, finished with a season-best time of 3:48.

Layla Gentile '25 earned fifth place in the shot put, with a personal best throw of 32’1’. Gavin Fountain '24, CJ Mersky '24 and Mario Toscano '24 finished with an impressive 3-4-5, all launching the shot in the mid-40s.

Lorelai Fortmann '25 continues to improve in the Pole Vault, clearing a personal best height of 7’6", and Caroline Smith '25 cleared her first height of 6’. For the boys, Adrian Diem '25 cleared a personal best of 11’, placing seventh in the field.

Blake Brown '24 triple jumped a season-best of 40’3.5", placing sixth. He also placed seventh in the Long Jump. Later in the night, on the same runway, Colucci debuted in the Triple Jump, with a tremendous series of jumps, setting a new school record of 28’4"!

Germantown Academy will host the annual Shot-Put Invitational on Wednesday, Jan. 25.
