By: Joe Cicchino - Sports Information Assistant

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Starting on June 13, some of the finest track and field athletes at the high-school level in the United States gathered at North Carolina A&T University to figure out who was the best of the best in 2019. New Balance Outdoor Nationals featured more than 5,000 athletes from almost every state, as well as Canada and other nations.

During the regular season, both the boys and girls track teams at Germantown Academy put up fast times, long throws and high jumps en route to top-three team finishes at Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Championships. While numerous student athletes contributed to the team's success, Issy Goldstein '20, Meaghan Toscano '20, Lily Cohen '20, Ola Abinusawa '19 and Robert DiDonato '21 performed exceptionally well and qualified for Nationals.

Goldstein had the best finish of the group, taking fourth in the Girls One Mile Run Championship with a time of 4:50.12. The rising senior earned All-American Honors with her finish. Just a year ago, Goldstein finished first in the Emerging Elite category of the Girls One Mile run with a time of 4:56.29.

Cohen placed 10th in the Girls Pole Vault Championship, clearing 12-06.25. She finished 20th in the Emerging Elite category a year ago with a jump of 11-02.50.

The only one in the group that competed in multiple events was Toscano, who threw the shot put as well as the discus. She placed 14th in the shot put, registering a 43-03.25 toss. Last year, Toscano threw 41-01.50 in the event and finished 26th. In the discus, Toscano finished 30th, throwing 120-06.

Abinusawa also threw at Nationals, recording a 57-11.25 heave in the shot put and placing 18th. DiDonato qualified for the Boys 2 Mile Run Championship, but did not record a time.
