Track & Field: Patriots Compete at Henderson Invitational

WEST CHESTER -- Before they begin track trials for the Inter-Ac League Championship, Germantown Academy's track and field team had student athletes compete at the 14th Annual Hoka One One Henderson Invitational. There was no team scoring for the meet.

After a missing the majority of the season with an injury, Caleb Johnson '19 returned to the track and showed that he is still one of the best vaulters around. Johnson won the boys pole vault with a 15' jump, a full foot higher than the second-place finisher. On the girls side, Lily Cohen '20  won the pole vault with a 12' 6" jump, while Quartnei Brown '21 took seventh by clearing 10' 6". 

Issy Goldstein '20 was the top finisher in the girls 3200, running a time of 10:29.72. Goldstein's time was almost 11 seconds faster than the next finisher. 

Rounding out the top finishes for GA was Meaghan Toscano '20, who took the top spot in the girls shot put. The junior threw 45' 3.5", while teammate Sarah Fineman '21 took 21st with a 33' throw. Toscano also finished eighth in the discus, throwing 111' 1". 

Robert DiDonato '21 finished second in the boys 3200 with a time of 9:11.63. DiDonato missed out on first place by just 1.2 seconds, but was the only sophomore to finish in the top 11 of the event. Matt Sandifer '20 finished 17th in the race, running 9:42.41. 

GA will have IAAL Track Trials on May 9 at Episcopal Academy. The League Championships will be on May 11, also at Episcopal Academy.
