Track & Field: Germantown Academy Split Results at First Inter-Ac League Meet
NEWTOWN SQUARE -- Germantown Academy continued it's spring track season with an away competition at Inter-Ac League foe Episcopal Academy on April 10. The boys team competed against not only the Churchmen of EA, but also the Fords of Haverford School, while the girls team took on EA and Penn Charter.
The girls defeated Episcopal, 71-60, but fell to PC, 85-55. Meanwhile, the boys defeated EA, 73-63, but fell to Haverford, 75-66.
Girls Track & Field
- Nieve Keitel '27 and Zoey Clark '26 went 1-2 in the 800 in 2:26.19 and 2:27.94, respectively. Annabelle Steckel '28 went 2:30.72 to finish fourth.
- Keitel and Steckel finished 1-2 in the 1600 in 5:29.88 and 5:35.40, respectively. Isabella Munski '27 and Abby Durkin '24 finished 5-6, with each running PRs.
- Lorelai Fortmann '25 (9' 6") and Devon Geist '26 (7' 6") went 1-2 in the Pole Vault. Geist also finished third in the 100m Hurdles in 20.04.
- Layla Gentile '25 won the Shot Put (38' 7") and Discus (99' 9") events. Both marks were PRs, with the former putting her among the top throwers in the state. Emma Merrill '24 finished third in the Discus (74' 4").
- Jocelyn Germain '28 took second in the 400m with a PR of 1:01.93. Arden Silver '27 finished fourth in 1:04.10.
- Gabby Colucci '24 (31' 4") and Elli Wang '26 (30' 8.25") Triple Jumped PRs, earning second and third place, respectively.
- Kaylin Trent '27 took third in the 300m Hurdles, with a PR of 51.22. She was the only freshman to finish in the top five.
- The 4x100 team of Trent, Kayla Sweeney '24, Gabby Colucci '24 and Piper Loney '27 took second place with a time of 52.32.
- The girls 4x400 team of Clark, Germain, Keitel, and Steckel ran a time of 4:14.21, missing first by .08 seconds.
Boys Track & Field
- Jet Dickerson '26 took second in the 100m in 11.50. Blake Brown '24 finished the event in 11.80, finishing fifth.
- Brown took second in the Long Jump, with a PR 21' 9". He won the Triple Jump with a PR of 42' 10.25".
- Braedan McDonough '26 took second in the 200m in 23.24, while Ryan Strauss placed fourth in 23.83. Both times were PRs.
- Evan Badami '26 finished second in the 400, running 48.91 to beat his own school record in the event.
- Ellis Johnson '25 took second in the 110 Hurdles in 16.60. Johnson also took second in the 300m Hurdles in 43.36.
- Tyler Benson '27 earned third in the 1600, running 4:41.41. He was the only freshman in the top-seven finishers. Walter Mulroy '26 went 5:01.09 to take seventh.
- The GA 4x100 teams placed first and second, respectively. The first-place team consisted of Brown, Landan DeHaven '24, Dickerson, and McDonough, while the second-place team consisted of Josh Cain '26, Jayden Gattuso '26, Strauss and Twon Russell '25.
- The 4x400 team of Ethan Na '26, Johnson, Luke Philip '24, and Badami earned first, with a time of 3:37.73.
- Robby Bright '25 (13') and Adrian Diem '25 (13') took second and third in the Pole Vault.
- Mario Toscano '24 (131' 11") and Gavin Fountain '24 (125' 7") finished 1-2 in the Discus.
- CJ Mersky '24 and Ansh Kakadia '24 took 3-4 in the Shot Put with throws of 43' 10" and 43' 8", respectively.
