Track & Field: Germantown Academy Sets Record, PRs at PAISAA Championships

MALVERN -- Blake Brown '24, Lorelai Fortmann '25, and Evan Badami '26 notched victories when Germantown Academy's Track & Field teams took to Malvern Prep on May 20 for the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Track & Field Championships. The GA girls finished fourth on the day, while the boys took third thanks to some top finishes in the Discus.

Boys Track & Field Highlights

  • Badami scorched the track in the 400m to take first in 49.72, breaking a 24-year-old school record. The freshman's time was over a full second faster than his competition. 
  • Brown took the PAISAA title in the Triple Jump with a PR of 43-5.5 and took third in the Long Jump with a 21-01.50 leap.
  • Gavin Fountain '24 put up PRs in the Discus and Shot Put en route to a second-place finish in both event. The junior recorded throws of 148-10 and 52-07.5, respectively. Mario Toscano '24 took third in the Discus, throwing 143-03.00, and sixth in the Shot Put with 47-09. CJ Mersky '24 placed seventh in the Shot Put with a PR of 46-5.75.
  • Adrian Diem '25 finished second in the Pole Vault, clearing 12-06.00. Robby Bright '25 tied for fourth with a 11-06.00 clearance. 
  • The GA 4x100 consisting of Jet Dickerson '26, Landan DeHaven '25, Brown, and J-Jay Ordillas '23 took second place with a time of 44.80. The group edged out Westtown School and Cristo Rey Philadelphia by .04 and .05 seconds, respectively. 
  • Ellis Johnson '25 and Dickerson recorded fifth-place finishes in the 110m Hurdles and Javelin, respectively. Johnson turned in a PR of 16.54, while Dickerson threw 128-09.00.
  • Johnson, Ordillas, Luke Philip '24, and Badami finished fifth in the 4x400 with a season-best time of 3:31.14.
  • Philip finished sixth in the 1600 with a PR of 4:28.36. Walter Mulroy '26 was sixth in the 3200 with a time of 10:45.99. Mulroy and Ethan Na '26 also ran PRs of 4:52.85 and 4:53.73 in the 1600.

Girls Track & Field Highlights 

  • Fortmann took home the PAISAA title in the Pole Vault with a 9-06.00 clearance. Zoe Hellman '25 finished third with 8-06.00, while Devon Geist '26 was fourth with 8-00.
  • Fiona McKenna '23 took second in the Javelin with a 99-08 throw. She also finished fourth in the 100m Hurdles (16.74) and eighth in the Long Jump (15-11.75).
  • Layla Gentile '25 recorded a PR of 103-01.00 in the Discus to claim third place. She also finished fourth in the Shot Put with a 33-01.25 throw. Kate Stone '23 took seventh in the Discus with a PR of 87-03.
  • The Girls 4x100 of Aja McBride '23, Kayla Sweeney '24, Lyla Perry '26, and McKenna finished fourth in 51.60. 
  • Abby Durkin '24 recorded a PR in the 1600, going 5:47.46. 
  • Sanya Bandekar '25 went 2:39.17 in the 800 for a new PR.
  • Elli Wang '26 cleared 29-05.5 in the Triple Jump to set a PR.
