Swimming & Diving: GA Shatters Records at Inter-Ac League Championships

NEWTOWN SQUARE -- Just four days after Germantown Academy's swimming and diving teams were crowned back-to-back Inter-Ac League Champions, the two units were once again competing, this time at the Inter-Ac League Invitational at Episcopal Academy. 

On the day, GA won 18 of the 24 events, set numerous Episcopal Academy pool records, and broke one GA school record. The girls swimming & diving team finished first, while the boys took second. The Patriots will return to competition on Feb. 17 and 18 for Easterns. 

Girls Swimming & Diving

  • The 200 Medley Relay team of Karly Boles '25, Eliza Meth '23, Taylor Grimley '24, and Emily Hamill '25 went 1:43.37, breaking the EA pool record of 1:45.99, set just last year by Boles, Grimley Lilly Acker '22, and Nicole Ranile '22. 
  • Hamill won the 200 Freestyle (1:49.17) and 500 Freestyle (4:57.53). She set the EA pool record in the 200 Freestyle.
  • Grimley won the 50 Freestyle in 23.32 and 100 Butterfly in 54.24 – both EA pool record setting times.
  • The 400 Freestyle Relay of Sarah Freeman '25, Boles, Grimley, and Hamill won in an EA pool record setting time of 3:26.58.
  • Laurel DePolo '25 took first in the Girls 1m Dive with a score of 238.85. Libby Brewer '25 and Maddie Evers '26 finished third and fourth, respectively. 

Boys Swimming & Diving

 

  • The 200 Medley Relay team of Landon D’Ariano '24, Andy Zhou '24, Brandon Fleck '25, and JJ Freeman '23 went 1:34.24, breaking the EA pool record of 1:34.59.
  • The 400 Freestyle Relay of Fleck, Freeman, Zhou, Landon D’Ariano then smashed the EA pool record that they set last season by 5 seconds. The group also broke the GA School Record set a year ago by Jack Maketa '22, Freeman, D'Ariano, and Henry Morrissey '22. On the lead-off leg, Fleck broke the EA pool record in the 100 Freestyle.
  • Brendan Hodgens '24 took second in the Boys 1m Dive with 267.20 points. Gavin Zivitz '25 took fourth with 214.20 and Asher Sasson '23 finished sixth with 191.10.
  • GA went 1-2 in the 100 and 200 Freestyle, with Fleck and Freeman taking the top two spots in the former, and Freeman and Zhou in the latter.
