Softball: Patriots Earn Season Sweep of Agnes Irwin

By: Joe Cicchino - Sports Information Assistant

FORT WASHINGTON -- It is time for some spring cleaning and Germantown Academy's softball team knows it. The Patriots started by breaking out the brooms and sweeping the season series with Agnes Irwin School.

Unlike the first matchup, this one required some extra work; eight innings of extra work. However, the effort was worth it as GA came away with a dramatic 10-9 victory. Shelby Kuehnle '19 pitched a complete game in the win.

The Patriots offense on the day was powered by doubles. Juliana Sarisky '18 tallied one, while Sarah DiLello '20 racked up four such hits. Her most important one however, came during her last at bat.

In the top of the eighth inning, the Owls pulled ahead, 8-7. When it was GA's turn to bat, Sarisky hit a double and Kuehnle singled. DiLello then recorded the game-winning double.

The hit capped off a clean game for the Patriots, who had 11 hits and only one error on the day. They will look to keep the momentum going on May 8 when they host William Penn Charter at 4:00 p.m.
