Softball: GA Bounces Back Against Notre Dame, Eyes PAISAA Tournament

FORT WASHINGTON -- Germantown Academy's softball team put a ribbon on its regular season on May 19, topping Inter-Ac League foe Academy of Notre Dame 19-2 after just three innings. The game comes just a day after a close loss to Episcopal Academy, and was the latest installment in a series of offensive outbursts for the Patriots, who are averaging just over 13 runs per game since May 10.

GA opened the week against the Churchwomen of Episcopal Academy, and despite scoring 10 runs, were unable to come out on top. The Patriots got home runs from Malia Walton '23, Emily Spillane '23 and Ang Sannicandro '22, while Alex Johnson '25 continued to be a menace offensively, getting on base three times. Episcopal won the game, 11-10.

Germantown Academy bounced back against Notre Dame, claiming third place in the Inter-Ac in the process. The Irish hit a two-run home run off of Liv Reynolds '25 to start the game, but the freshman quickly settled in and shut out Notre Dame the rest of the way. Every member of the Patriots got on base in the contest.

With the regular season over, the Patriots now turn their focus on the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Tournament on Friday. GA is seeded third overall in the tournament behind only Springside Chestnut Hill Academy and Shipley, and is scheduled to host Mercersburg Academy on May 20 at 4:30 pm. The Blue  Storm come into the tournament with a 7-12 overall record, but are 1-9 in their last 10 games.
