Patriots Excel in First Round of PAISAA Play

FORT WASHINGTON -- The spring sports teams at Germantown Academy got a taste of the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Tournament and will be looking for more. The Patriots hosted PAISAA games in softball, baseball, and girls lacrosse on May 19, with each team winning in stellar fashion.

Softball

No. 2 seeded GA hosted Mercersburg, who earned the right to travel to Fort Washington by defeating Friends' Select School in the opening round, for the PAISAA Quarterfinal. The Patriots' Clarissa Smith '23 picked up her 150th career strikeout in the 12-1 win. GA will host Inter-Ac League foe Springside Chestnut Hill Academy for the PAISAA Semifinal on May 23. The Patriots are 2-0 against the Blue Devils this season, winning both games by just one run.

Baseball

The No. 8 seeded Patriots welcomed No. 9 Westtown School to campus and responded with a 10-0 win over the Moose. GA led the contest 6-0 after three innings before taking the game in five innings. The Patriots are scheduled to play No. 1 seed and Inter-Ac League Co-Champions Springside Chestnut Hill Academy on May 23 on the road. GA is 0-2 against the Blue Devils this season.

Girls Lacrosse

No. 4 seeded GA took on No. 5 seed Hill School 16 days after defeating them 18-11 and responded with an 18-8 win. Mia Raven '23 and Cate Luviano '24 had four goals apiece, while Sydney Wanner '25 and Emma Goodwin '24 each had three. Sarah Marvin '23 and Lucia Smigiel '24 added two goals each to round out the scoring for GA. They will battle Agnes Irwin School on the road on May 23. GA is 0-2 against the Owls this season.
