Maddie Burns '20 to compete with U.S. Women’s Senior National Team during the IWLCA Presidents Cup

USA Lacrosse has named the 44 players that will compete with the U.S. Women’s Senior National Team during the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Presidents Cup from Nov. 22-24 in Florida.

This will be the first training camp and competition for the U.S. women’s team since Acacia Walker-Weinstein was named the program’s head coach earlier this year. The U.S. team is building towards the 2026 World Lacrosse Women’s Championship that will be held in Japan.

Among the 44 players was Maddie Burns '20. Burns was a three-year letterwinner for the Patriots and was a two-time First Team All-Inter-Ac League selection. She continued her academic and athletic endeavors at the University of Michigan, where she was named First Team All-Big Ten three times, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year in 2024, and earned All-American honors.

The U.S. will hold a Blue-White exhibition game on Saturday, Nov. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Premier Sports Campus in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The U.S. women will then scrimmage Boston College the following day (Nov. 24) in a pair of games beginning at 10:30 a.m., also at the Premier Sports Campus.

The IWLCA Presidents Cup, one of the nation’s most prominent recruiting events, includes more than 450 teams featuring some of the top high school players in the country.

Walker-Weinstein, the head women’s lacrosse coach at reigning NCAA champion Boston College, was a two-time gold medalist with the U.S. women’s program. She was the youngest player on the 1999 U.S. U19 squad that won the world championship in Perth, Australia and then was on the 2009 U.S. women’s senior team that captured the world title in Prague, Czech Republic.
