Girls Water Polo: Stauffer & Naessens Power GA in Win Over Episcopal Academy

NEWTOWN SQUARE--The Patriots won their ninth straight game on Friday by defeating archival Episcopal Academy, 14-13, on the road. Sophomore goalie Elle Stauffer '20 had a phenomenal match and racked up 12 saves while senior Alexa Naessens '18 scored a mind bogglingly 12 times to lead the Patriots' offense.

"Elle Stauffer was unstoppable," said GA Head Coach Allison Rader. "She was quick to pick up the scraps and make some crucial saves in what was a challenging game. And Alexa, she is one of the smartest water polo players I’ve ever coached. She had two talented back-hands late in the game that certainly helped us come out with a win. Her 12 goals were a variety of types of shots, from two-meter, from the perimeter, and some from a turn-and-shoot type situation. She’s a very talented player."

Riley Gobora '18 also scored two goals from the wing for GA. Then, unfortunately she got rolled in the middle of the third quarter, and Olivia Negro '19 stepped up on defense.

GA STATS:

Goals: Naessens (12), Gobora (2)

Assists: Naessens (2), Morrissey (2), Kuehnle (1)

Saves: Stauffer (12)
