Girls Track & Field: Patriots Close Season at PAISAA Championships

MALVERN -- Germantown Academy's girls track and field team traveled to Malvern Prep on May 21 to compete in the Pennsylvania Independent Schools Athletic Association Track & Field Championships. The sun and humidity was not the only thing burning up the track, as the Patriots were able to put up some top times and marks during the competition. As a team, the GA girls finished seventh with 39 points.

Fore Abinusawa '22 capped off her GA career by taking second in the Girls 100 and 200 Dash. The senior went 11:58 in the 100, just .07 behind the first-place finisher, Avery Lewis from Friends' Central. Abinusawa ran in 200 in 24.47, which was .34 behind Lewis, but nearly two seconds faster than the third-place finisher. Aja McBride '23 took sixth in the 200 with a time of 27.33, but finished fifth in the Girls High Jump, clearing 4-08.00.

The GA 4x800 Relay comprised of Carolyn Connolly '23, Kayla D'Eletto '23, Olivia Jappe '23 and Lana Karpf '23 finished third with a time 10:56.17. 

Alyssa DePaul '24 finished fourth in the Girls Shot Put and sixth in the Girls Discus with throws of 29-09.25 and 87-01, respectively. Caitlin Lozano '24 finished seventh in the Discus with a throw of 84-09, while Emma Merrill took 10th with 76-00. Merrill also finished eighth in the Girls Javelin by throwing 80-07.

 Juli Gonzalez '22 ran the Girls 800 in 2:21.54, finishing fifth in the event. Sanya Bandekar '25 finished 17th with a time of 2:40.01. Fiona McKenna '24 placed seventh in the Girls 100 Hurdles with a time of 16.36. Bri O'Hara '22 also finished seventh, but in the Girls 400, with a time of 1:02.08. Alex Goodridge '22 took eighth in the Girls Long Jump with a 15-10.25 leap, while Sydney Cameron '22 took 14th with 14-05.75.
