Girls Swimming & Diving: Patriots Stay Hot, Cruise Past Peddie

HIGHTSTOWN, NJ -- While most got to relax and enjoy their weekend, Germantown Academy's girls swimming and diving team was hard at work, taking on The Peddie School in New Jersey. It was a break from the Inter-Ac League schedule for the Patriots, but the results did not change as GA came away victorious, 118-52.

Arina Vorobyeva '25 claimed two first-place finishes during the meet. The freshman touched first in the 200 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle, with times of 1:54.33 and 5:06.01, respectively. Sarah Freeman '25 took second in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 1:54.54, while Lilly Acker '22 claimed third with a time of 2:02.64. 

Acker also took first in the 100 Yard Breaststroke. The senior went 1:07.60, while Isa Lieu '24 took third (1:10.80) and Sophia DeCardona '25 took fourth (1:11.57). Taylor Grimley '24 touched first in the 200 Yard IM, swimming 2:07.80. Eliza Meth '23 finished second in the event (2:10.60), while DeCardona '25 finished fifth (2:20.31). 

The Patriots took first and second in the 100 Yard Butterfly thanks to Nicole Ranile '22 and Meth. Ranile finished the event in 58:84, while Meth swam 1:01.46. GA also claimed the top two spots in the 100 Yard Freestyle with Emily Hamill '25 (52.41) and Freeman (54.58). Charlotte Harobin '22 took fourth with a time of 57.95. 

Karly Boles '25 took first in the 100 Yard Backstroke, going 56.07. Hamill was close behind, finishing the event in 56.63. Boles also finished second in the 50 Yard Freestyle, swimming 24.48. She touched less than two tenths of a second behind Sara Plunkett of Peddie School. Harobin took third with a time of 25.62, while Ranile finished in fourth in 25.65.

Germantown Academy placed first and third in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Freestyle Relay and 400 Freestyle Relay. 

Hamill, Meth, Ranile and Boles got the top finish in the 200 Medley Relay with a time of 1:48.73, while DeCardona, Lieu, Harobin and Lana Karpf '23 went 1:55.69. 

Freeman, Harobin, Ranile and Vorobyeva took first in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:41.00. DeCardona, Acker, Karpf and Lucy Harobin '22 went 1:47.93 for third. 

GA closed out the meet with Hamill, Grimley, Vorobyeva and Boles going 3:38.91 in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay to take home first. Meth, CC Leoni '23, Lucy Harobin and Jordan Seidman '25 swam 3:53.93 for third. 

The Patriots will be back in the pool on Jan. 25 when they take on Academy of Notre Dame de Namur at Malvern Prep at 3:45.
