Girls Swimming & Diving: Patriots Complete Perfect Season, Win Inter-Ac Title

HAVERFORD -- If there were any doubts that Germantown Academy's girls swimming & diving team was the best in the Inter-Ac League, they were squashed on Jan. 31. When the undefeated Patriots took on Agnes Irwin School in the final league meet of the season, it was business as usual. GA won every event on the night en route to a 140-40 victory.

With the result, the Patriots clinched the Inter-Ac League title, giving them back-to-back championships for the first time since the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons.

"I'm really proud of the girls," Head Coach Jeff Thompson said. "It's fun having a team where you can move the pieces around and the kids can swim different events. It keeps them fresh, it keeps it fun. The hardest thing has been continuing to challenge them."

"Seeing the way the culture of the team has developed over my four years, and especially the last two years, has been a major factor to the success," Ella DeCardona '23 said.

Sarah Freeman '25 won four events for the Patriots, while Emily Hamill '25, Eliza Meth '23, and Karly Boles '25 won three. CC Leoni '24, Sophia DeCardona '25, Mira Hayes '26 each won two events and Camryn Jones '26 and Libby Brewer '25 won one.

The Patriots will be back in action on Feb. 4 for the Inter-Ac League Swimming & Diving Championships.
