Girls Swimming & Diving: Germantown Academy Picks Up Win Over Episcopal Academy

NEWTOWN SQUARE — Germantown Academy’s Girls Swimming and Diving team continued its stretch of Inter-Ac League dominance on Tuesday afternoon when they traveled to Episcopal Academy. Behind nine event victories, including exhibitions, the Patriots prevailed, 108-73.

GA opened the meet with a win in the 200 Medley Relay, as the A team finished in 1:46.16 and the B team placed third in 1:57.47.

In the 50 Freestyle, Amelia Gipson '27 led the way with a winning time of 24.22. Arden Keitel '27 finished second in 24.32, and Nieve Keitel '27 placed fourth in 25.23.

GA dominated 1-meter diving, sweeping the top two spots. Ana Navarro '28 claimed first with an Episcopal Academy pool record 285.90 points. Maddie Evers '26 was second with 276.23 points. 

The Patriots also claimed the 100 Butterfly, with Ambar Perez-Mercedes '27 touching first in 58.64. Emerson Choudry '27 (1:00.17) and Anna Springer '27 (1:04.57) finished third and sixth, respectively.

GA swept the 100 Freestyle, with Anabelle Perez-Mercedes '29 touching first in 53.77, while Mazie Williams '27 (54.86) and Vita Capriotti '29 (55.47) took second and third. The Patriots also took the top three spots in the 500 Freestyle with Grace Bell '27 (5:07.12), Camryn Jones '26 (5:09.59), and Ainsley Buerger '28 (5:23.65). The Patriots went on to win the 200 Freestyle Relay in 1:39.91, with the B team placing third in 1:50.32.

Gipson added a win in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 57.80. Ambar Perez-Mercedes finished second in 1:01.97, and Izzy Munski '27 placed third in 1:05.39.

Germantown Academy returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 17 when they travel to New Jersey to take on Peddie School for a non-league duel meet.
